The Ready to Learn Chart Reinvented

I was working in my classroom this past Thursday and my son came with me. He was staring at my Ready to Learn Chart, reading each level. He turned to me and said, "Mom, I think that you should also have 'Parent Contact' at the top. It should be a good thing."

Brilliant

Duh.

Why hasn't this been done before?

 I just can't stop thinking about all of the kids that will be striving to reach the top, not because it says, "outstanding" but because they get a good phone call home.  I can already imagine the difference this will make.

I can't wait to put this in action starting Wednesday!

My son and I had fun throwing boiling water in the air and watching it turn to gas instantly!
It is currently -18 degrees here with a windchill of -40.   Yikes!

Back to School Freebie: Parent Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet

     I think it's a given that all teachers appreciate having volunteers come into their classrooms to lend a helping hand. I volunteered in many classrooms, while I was going to college. It was one of the best experiences in my life. I learned so much from it, and made such wonderful friends with the teachers that I worked with.
The only problem that I saw was a few teachers didn't have a sign-up sheet for their volunteers, and didn't really know when to expect them to arrive. I made it a goal for my classroom to have a volunteer sign-up sheet, and actually used one when I taught.
     Since it is a beginning of a new school year, I thought it would be nice to provide you all with a free parent volunteer sign-up sheet. I encourage you to hang next to your classroom door to invite your parents to volunteer. Having a volunteer, myself, helped me tremendously. And, I was ever so grateful for the help too.
     At any rate; this printable includes spaces for your parents to write their name, the date they'd like to volunteer, and spaces for their desired start and end times. I hope this printable will help you stay organized, and know who to expect to enter your classroom each day.

Individual Behavior Charts

Happy Saturday everyone! For me, summertime is a time to catch up on old projects, finish up units, and "cutesify" random things. Every year I have at least one (if not more) students who needs that little bit of extra motivation to get through the day. I've learned over the years that I can't use the same thing every year. Why? Each student has different needs, different interests, different things that motivate them. I end up making each behavior sheet slightly (or very) different each year. I went back through my charts I've used over the years and added some borders and clip art. I thought now would be the perfect time to share them!
